"Stop letting your tongue tie you down"

What is myofunctional therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is a course of exercises to improve function of breathing, swallowing, chewing and speaking by strengthening the tongue and muscles of the mouth, face and throat.

An orofacial myofunctional disorder (OMD) is when there is an abnormal position of the tongue, jaw or lips during speech, swallowing or at rest.

About

Kelly - Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist

I started Fundamental Myofunctional Therapy as a way to help people live their best lives. As a registered dental hygienist for the last 15 years I have worked clinically with patients and although I love my profession, I had a passion to help people even more.
After doing lots of research, I came across myofunctional therapy. I jumped right into classes and starting taking what I was learning and applying it in my office job. I was astounded! Every day I came across undiagnosed tongue ties, patients with heart problems who also have sleep apnea and diabetes (yikes!), enlarged tonsils and mouth breathing. I started asking my patients questions and was floored by the symptoms they described. I knew what I had to do. I had to start helping people heal and teach them to bring their bodies back to a harmonious state.
My mission is to help individuals of all ages and aptness come to the goal of living a healthy, functional life through personal encouragement and orofacial therapy.
My ambition is to motivate and inspire clients be happy, healthy and partake in any activity they want to or need to with confidence and haleness.
My vision is to bring more education and understanding of orofacial myofunctional disorders and their impact on overall health.
